Logistics Leadership Development Program Trainee Nihir gains a mentor at Nestlé Waters
As a recent college graduate, Nihir was looking for an opportunity to grow professionally and earn skills that would help him reach a successful and meaningful career in logistics. As a Logistics Leadership Development Program Trainee, Nihir is implementing what he learned in college while gaining real-world experience as part of the Nestlé Waters Logistics family.
“I first heard of the Leadership Development Program when I worked as an Import Logistics Intern in Stamford, CT. I expressed interest to my HR manager, and then I was referred to the National Recruiter for the Logistics program.”
Throughout his time at Nestlé, Nihir has had the opportunity to work on projects creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), filing damage claims, distributing daily container reports to the team, and even participating on and initiating conference call meetings. Additionally, Nihir has been exposed to various departments, worked with 3PL imports and 3PL domestic warehouses, and implemented the raw material receiving and storage process.
“These different areas have provided me a deeper view into how Nestlé Waters operates within its supply chain network, and some opportunities have given me exposure to cross-functional realms such as manufacturing and logistics.”
Working at Nestlé Waters helped Nihir work on his post-college professional goals by learning from mentors who have real-world experience in the field, and this has allowed him to develop his ability to work and handle complex situations.
I have been able to develop skills in interpersonal communication, data analysis, training, coaching, providing and receiving constructing feedback, and overall leadership skills. I would recommend the Leadership Development Program to anyone fresh out of college because the learning and development opportunities are endless, and once you complete the program, a tremendous career path lies ahead.
